Me and my mate were taking about this - In 1996 - 17 of us, all either
season ticket holders, or away regulars went to the Cup Final against
Aston Villa.

For the Play Off's only two of us went. In fact we're the only 2 of
that 17 who still go to games. Admittedly neither of us have season
tickets, but we were both all set to get them this year after not
renewing last season.

But neither of us can afford those prices. So we'll go to a few aways
and a couple of home games instead. As for the other 15 from 1996
they were priced out of Elland Road years ago.

The reason that there's been hardly any outcry is sad but indictative
(imho) of the fact that we all knew at the back of our minds it was
going to happen. And prices go up year on year, each time pricing more
and more people out of Elland Road.

I consider myself a pretty loyal fan, but I just can't justify the
cost of a season ticket. It averages at roughly £23 a game for a
season ticket on the kop - the cheapest tickets at Old Trafford are
£23.

Sounds like an almighty rip off to me.

But at least if I do go, thanks to Ken's great leadership I'll be able
to have great chicken nuggets.

UNITED SEASON TICKET REVOLT
Leeds United's supporters today warned of a long-term decline in crowds at
Elland Road after the club topped the league of Championship season ticket
prices.

A poll on the Yorkshire Evening Post's website revealed 89 per cent of fans
would not be prepared to pay United's top price after passes for the 2006-07
season peaked at £726 at the start of general sale yesterday.

Subject: [LU] ST price hike

Surprised not to have heard much on the list about the new ST price
announcement from yesterday.

According to the YEP its now over £700 smackers to get a new ST in the John
Charles or the East Stand - can't remember which. Now those guys are going to
want value for money.

(bracing myself for Mark H's encyclopaedic reply telling me that it is not so).
