You posted below about the defenders and how stats mean bugger all - are
those the same stats that determine 3 points for a win and nil for a loss?
So Im tipping, going out on a limb here, that having the 3rd best defensive
record will help you get a fair few of those points required to get
promoted??
Yes, neither Gregan nor Butler are probably PL material - but as you so
eruditely pointed out, we got stuffed in the last game so we are still CCC
bound. Lets fix the defence up AFTER we fix the bleedingly obvious
shortfalls - NO MIDFIELD
Best midfield fromlast season was probably
Lewis - Derry - Douglass/Miller - Stone (ok Im assumming Blackie understands
a 4-4-2 formation)
Out of that lot Derry is a definite gun
Lewis on his day is red-hot
Stone on his day probably is too
The loanees arent really up to it (esp Douglass)
Then we have Bakke (who seems uninterested) Gyfli (not in the plan)
Griffiths (maybe) and our beloved strikeforce played out of position
So realistically we need 2-3 GOOD midfielders
Then all of a sudden we start to look very very good for CCC (not PL mind)
but def the dogs B*ll*x for this league:
Sully
Kelly - ButlerorGregan - Killa - HardingorCrainey
Stone - Gun - Derry - Othergun
Creswell - Hulse
and this is a red hot side for CCC
As for where they should finish, and Im know you dont like stats, but look
at the record Blackie has with us:
- 1st season Mid Table when a quite a few thought we'd be bottom
- 2nd season - playoff spot when quite a few thought we'd never get there
He has lived up to his end of the bargain - in all fairness you cant argue
with that!!
Now is his hardest season coming up
Rich is correct when he says we can no longer use the "Oh but look where we
were" lines. We cant look back any more and we must keep improving
The only acceptable spot next season is 1 or 2
(And forget this "if its not all ok at Christmas - get rid" talk) folks have
been saying that about KB for the last 2 seasons and he has delivered
So after we get promoted or it becomes obvious we will, THEN start looking
at finding another CB
