The ability to score a goal from the kick off has always been the case
hasn't it?

Whenever I thought about trying this (gale force wind behind, or their
keeper titting about) I always used to make sure the referee agreed it was
ok before I tried it.

Never did score mind you, hit the bar once and forced a few scrambled
saves..
