Funny old game footy, how many different opinions there are of the game.
Some folks thought we were the punt merchants and some thought Watford were.
Ditto who played the better pass and move footy
Opinions range on who was shite and who was good.
So here's my ten cents worth
Granpa Sykes was watching a different game to me if he thought Derry was
crap. Him and Killa (IMHO) were the two best players on the park. Derry was
box to box action AND looked like he could control a ball, pass to a team
mate OR even drift past an opposition player using a little body feint.
Gregan seemed pretty solid to me, nothing special but nothing awfully bad,
some good clearances and at least he looked like he gave a feck.
Watford are punt and hope merchants, Marlon King is quick and they rely on
that, I've no idea what their home and away records are like but it wouldn't
surprise me to see they did much better against teams who came out to attack
them. My money is on them getting hammered in the prem if they play that way
next season. I didn't see them pass the ball around meaningfully at all and
they only scored from set pieces (which they are better than us at)
We played better second half when Blake came on and we started to pass to
feet more, unfortunately we got caught out by that spawny goal and that was
a real sickener to conced right after half time. We then seemed to have a
decent spell of pressure but just couldn't score, ball being cleared off the
line etc.
All in all I thought it was a pretty even game, they just converted their
chances, with the second being about as spawny as you can get. Hulse was at
fault for their first goal and he knew it when he clasped his face in his
hands.
The one thing that pissed me off royally was Bakke. 5 mins to go 3-0 down in
a final and he's joking with an oppo player just before a Leeds corner. Get
rid if we can, the bloke doesn't care a jot about us.
