I thought we played ok in 1st half away to Preston, very good in the second half. Indeed it was the away leg to Preston which probably decided Blackwell to go with Richardson to start. I think the problem with the team not following instructions were that they were penned back right from the start, but were dealing with it all very comfortably. We got caught with a good corner, almost undefendable, but like us supporters they probably thought they could still win the game as it was going. Second half we kept possession a bit better but then got caught with a sucker punch.. a throw-in to them that wasn't, a shot going wide taking, I think, 2 deflections en route to goal, then a freak backspin put on the ball to put it over the line. After that they panicked a bit, as of course they were probably right to, knowing they needed to score a goal quickly. I think they played the way they did, perversely because of our good defensive performances and confidence we could come back from a goal down. They would have been totally justified/vindicated had either of Derry's attempts gone in - those efforts were better than anything Watford did all match apart from their opening goal. These things happen in football, and especially to us. That's why next year they have to make certain they finish top 2! I am actually looking forward to next season, which is the first time I can honestly say that for about 4 or 5 years.. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:leedslist- > [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 22 May 2006 16:59 > To: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [LU] What next > > >You also must have been watching a different game to me, Derry was > probably our best player.. was effective all over the pitch.
