At the start of the season my hopes and wishes for the club were that we reach the play off final...and lose! Got it just right in the end. We were no match for Watford who (let's face it) outplayed us in all areas. I thought we'd lose this about 0-2 but hoped we'd put up half a decent display. The match personified the two clubs respective seasons I thought. We played our usual hoof it and hope and Watford played a much more concisive and thinking game. We are not ready for the Premiership yet and don't deserve to be there. I found it hard to believe how comprehensively we were beaten - even in the final 10 mins I thought we could pressure them, but no, they still looked like scoring again. The second goal was odd and if Sully had left it, it would have gone wide or hit the post, but how could he have known that....his touch caused the backspin which carried the ball over the line....no matter, it was only one of the 3 goals. We looked more comfortable when we didn't have the ball than when we did and that's saying something, Funny how the bookies got this so wrong - they couldn't separate the teams...ahem!"! So there it is - season over and I beleive we are where we should be, in the top bundle of the Championship. We're kidding ourselves if we believe we could have survived for more than 10 minutes in the top flight. Just imagine turning out at Anfield, Stamford Bridge or Old T and performing like that...we'd be 0-6 0-7 losers. So, in real terms. the perfect end to a not bad season but still more work to do. Wouldn't you prefer promotion under the guise of a Readingesque type promotion??
