If you don't try difficult things and occasionally fail (16%) then what's the
point. Perhaps some of the 16% did cause problems but that's what the other 10
players are for and Bielsa isn't going to criticise him for that.

I think Dave made the point that comparing Batty to Macca was pointless as
there attempts at passing were of completely different types. KP is a
defensive midfielder, very little gets through BUT he also sets up counter
attacks and plays defence splitting passes. If you think he's average your are
entitled to your opinion, but I just think that's plain wrong and not born out
by the facts of last season or the beginning of this, maybe you need to amend
your expectations of a top championship DM? Who are you comparing him with?

I recommend you watch again Richard and actually look for the passes he gave
away. They were problematic.

Phillips has come on leaps and bounds but he does have issues.

Most of the game Phillips sat in midfield with noone anywhere near him. During
the game I told the boy I could sit there and do that too and give the ball
away less (some hyperbole there of course). With Rich a bit here, stats do not
tell everything. 100 short passes looks great and is not necessarily a bad
thing but when 4/5 through balls go straight to the other side and sets up
their attack there is nothing wrong with pointing that out.

that contradict your opinions, who does, but just ignoring them and accusing
others of getting upset is a bit rich (pun intended). If you think 16% is
“frequent” in the context of a fast flowing match against committed (albeit
limited) opponents, can you give us an example of the stats you would expect
from an ABOVE average player, one that would reduce the pain you say you feel
from watching one of our most improved and committed players? C’mon Rich, we
all know your schtick on here & Twitter is to be angry and contrarian to wind
people up, but you’re amongst friends here, just once, just for us, crack and
smile and gives us a WHOOP – promise we won’t tell anyone.

stats are stats and looking at those they mean nothing. For instance they don't
include his shot that went over the stand in the first half.

I'd prefer to go with what I saw and overall I thought Philips did ok with a
definite improvement in the second half with one or two really good passes.

First half though, he was dreadful. His passing was all over the place,
frequently giving the ball away (that must have been the 16% inaccurate
passes). The most worrying thing is when he got done for pace by Towell and you
could see he just didn't have the acceleration to recover.

I like Philips, he's a local lad and he's doing ok at this moment in time but
let's have a reality check. Some fans are saying he could be England captain
whereas I think he's a good championship player and would struggle in the PL.

It makes me laugh when fans get all upset when you point out a player's faults
in a match and get all abusive and start crying particular on Twitter however
there are 1 or 2 snowflakes on here. Come on, grow up FFS.
