If you are wondering if we can recover from the recent setbacks.........well, there is a precedent.
If you think the end of last season was bad and utterly demoralising, it was worse in the spring of 1973. For all the WOTL (whippersnappers-on-the-list), I'll recap. As usual (in the 70s), we were going for a treble. Then we lost 5 and drew 1 of our last 7 games (and the only win was in a meaningless last league game.) And 2 of those games were Cup Finals. So yeah, we ended up with nowt. When the players returned after their hols, The Don said to them that his goal for the year was to go the whole season unbeaten. Well, he failed in that...........but we did win our first 7, and set a record by not losing until late in February.........and we won the league at a canter. So Marcelo, if you're reading this..........you know what to say to the lads when they get back.
