Phew !!
We made really hard work of that but as the Bard said 'all's well that ends
well" - made even sweeter by the Sheff U result
This was though, as poor a winning home performance as I have seen this season
- we got nowhere near the heights of the West Brom game and in some ways were
fortunate to get the win, so off our game were we, especially defensively
Pre game it was 100% agreed this was a must win but also should win game - play
well and we would pick up the 3points. There was however a lot of anxiety among
the fans and I think this transferred to the players who were quite hesitant at
times and the atmosphere was subdued and nervous for much of the game.
With Pontus recovering quicker than expected it was our usual and expected line
up with BPF replacing the suspended Kiko - and he got an early chance to show
what he can do when one of theirs strolled though our midfield and into our
area, the move ending with a decent shot that BPF had to dive smartly to save
and push wide.
We did not learn from that early scare and on ten minutes Harrison was left
isolated on the left and was well beaten by their forward who then crossed to
an Millwall striker stood on the penalty spot totally unmarked - Ayling and
Pontus (?) both made a half arsed attempt to challenge him but he headed home -
1 down 'Leeds are falling apart again'
We did work hard to get back into it - first Alioski was pushed inside the box
and we got yet another penatly (3 now for the season ?) Bamford who fought to
take the last one, strode up with no-one wrestling him but he looked unsure and
his softly struck penalty right down the middle of the goal was kicked clear
-an awful pen from a stiker out of form and out of touch
Thankfully we have Pablo to rely on and he got us to half time on level terms
as Ayling got the ball from Klich and crossed to the onrushing Pablo who
stroked it home, almost going through the keeper , from the edge of the box.
The second half was all a bit of a blur and apart from the goals a non event -
the goals however will make this memorable.
Firstly as we pressed for the goal that would put us in front we were totally
caught out on the break and they had 3 or 4 men on an overlap. Cooper went
flying across to cut out the danger but he tripped the man up as his momentum
made him lose control - a definite penalty and 2 1 down

TO be fair this is where our character and determination took hold - first
Harrison kept the ball in play and gave it to Douglas (on at half time for
ALioski) and his dinked cross was headed home by Ayling - 2 2 and time left as
the fans went wild
10mins to go and Roberts did well jinking into the box and he put a lovely
cross right into the 6 yard area, Bamford could not get to it but Pablo was on
hand to fire home from close range
Once again we had turned things round at the death and we hung on for a long
long last 10 minutes or so, as we prepared to celebrate we heard that SHeff U
had lost and we were back in the automatic promotion places
A real roller coaster game and a fairly poor one, but WOW what a result in the
end
Maybe just maybe .......
Dave
