Very glad to be proven wrong. I thought overall England deserved that win.
Agree about Columbia being cynical, there were very lucky not to get a red for
that headbutt, if the ref had called that it may have stopped all the other
stuff. I thought Sterling was starting to come good in that game, he at least
kept going at players despite it not working most of the time, I suspect Alli
is carrying an injury, he just seems half a step off the pace the whole time.
The issue is Alli is someone who has a bit of creativity in their game and can
make things happen when he's on song, he's just not firing on any cylinders at
this cup, I'd replace him with Loftus cheek for the next game, especially as I
think the Swedes will be fairly physical.

Since I predicted we'd lose to Columbia and we won I'm going to predict Sweden
will win this game!

Very glad you were incorrect Jez re Ingerland, although that was one hell of a
tough watch. What a bunch of cynical c***s Colombia were - credit England for,
in the main, not getting involved. Refs need to get on top of the whole team
compaining thing too. It should be like it Rugby League, when only the captain
has direct speaking rights unless called over.

Anyway, the sheer relief of Dier's penalty, and I thought he'd been rubbish the
whole time he was on, was ecstasy. It was exactly what Colombia deserved. There
were flashes of decent play in England's performance, but some big issues too -
Stirling and Alli have been complete passengers and I'd switch that around.
Plus Ashley Young - he's really not a left back.

At least we can't play against another S American team until the final, but I'm
hoping Belgium will sort Brazil out.

Best team for me right now is France. Girouard starting up front seems to keep
the defenders busy and that creates space for Mbappe to exploit (and exploit it
he did against the Argies!) The you have Griezeman's intelligent play, and
Kante's intelligent play and breaking up of attacks. Pogba, when he can be
arsed and plays further up the field can unlock defences with a great pass.
Defensively they are a tad weak but I suspect they'll continue to outscore
their opponents. Uruguay look very organized and in Suarez have a game changer
so they could be a real challenger too. Brazil are starting to click but I
still suspect they have a bad game in them if something starts to go wrong.
Belgium were a little lucky with the first goal against Japan ( i really dont
believe that was anything other than a header back into the box) which
completely changed the momentum in that game but they also look pretty strong.

England to go out to Columbia today I'm afraid.
