Yeah done it both - no problems. Looks a bit different and you can manage your 
apps a bit easier, but no major differences to me.

The iPad 2 should be OK, as it has the same internals as the iPad Mini,
which is running iOS 7 fine here.

Note that iOS 7 is really designed for a retina display, and it's a bit of
an aesthetic horror show. Not Apple's finest hour.
