I speak for the FPC core team. For each of them it is their hobby.
I don't know about the Lazarus core team.

For the average man this is the same thing :-)

We have always been.

We don't copy any source of Borland, this is a rule.

And Borland should not try to fight us; 
We're a partner: we help in keeping Object Pascal alive; 
Something they should consider carefully...
