I wonder what an update is in this context? How does one ask svn whether anything "worthwhile" has gone into the fixes branch?
Of course such feature is not easy to implement and it had to be really useful, like being able to upgrade "in place".
It would probably be possible to add a "rebuild when next terminating" facility. More tricky would be to make sure that everything was rebuilt- all widget set interfaces, cross-compilation variants and so on.
