The thing that I find most encouraging about the dual development of this
same feature by OpenG and by NI is the fact that OpenG was able to develop
it at all. Something that LV has been really pushing is the ability for new
features to be added to LV using LV. The new express block toolkit is an
example. As our language's complexity improves to the point where it
describes itself, customers will be able to add all sorts of new features
to the language. Have any of you used the sizing dialog from LV7.0? Next to
the align and distribute buttons, there's a size button. The code behind
those buttons was originally written in LV, and the dialog (the last button
on the palette) is still a VI. We at NI still have unique abilities to put
things on the button bar and control a lot of UI aspects, but the
functionality of tools is more and more in your hands. As Captain Planet
would say, "The power is YOURS!" :-)

(And, yes, for those who are wondering, I am just now getting around to
reviewing two weeks of infoLV posts...)
