OK, but you should definitely be able to open issues. Basically, you
just needed to use https://issues.apache.org/ooo/
and copy and paste what I had written. This makes things more manageable
and reduces the overhead needed to actually fix the issue.
I took care of opening the issue:

I set it as "easy", so if a new contributor wants to solve it I'll leave
it to him. Otherwise it will stay assigned to me and be fixed for 4.2.0.
I'll do the same for the other situation we are discussing, but for
other similar situations you should try to create an issue (feel free to
create it and assign it to me if you don't know how to fill in the many
fields; description and title are all you need, the rest can be modified
easily).
