John -

I agree with Jim Schultz. However, I suggest using Braodvoice over Vonage.

Vonage does not let you have any control over your VOIP router settings.
Broadvoice does - you can adjust everything, including any settings you
would need to connect a package like Asterisk.
Oh yeah, the price is lower too.

I had several problems with my Vonage line with remote programming on
panasonic and Inter-Tel system - I could not connect. Vonage said, "We
don't support that ... we don't even really support faxing". (By the
way, Broadvoice doesn't either) The Vonage tech spport sucks too - you
talk to someone in India who is just reading off the screen and has no
tech knowledge of their own. Aak!
So I switched over to Broadvoice. I did have one problem with them -
when I hooked it up to my system the incoming volume was a bit high, so
the touch tone "press one for" commands were too loud and were distorted
so the auto-attendant could not understand them. The tech support was
great and I just lowered the incoming dB setting and all is fine now.

I could just ramble on all day but I won't. If you end up using the
broadvoice, could you use the link below? The price will be the same but
I get a free credit for the referral.

BTW - If you need a second line - get the "Bring your own device" option
- I think it's only $5.99/mo. for the unlimited package. You then just
program the new number into the router on the second jack.

Any questions? <grin>
