What the switch is waiting for is a digit to be dialed. Go off hook and listen, your transmit is muted for 10 seconds or until you dial a digit. What would a customer bitch about anyway. They haven't even dialed a number yet. If you are connecting an external door box (door king) you want to change this timer. It's under system, timers, analog co first digit. Notice it is set to 10 seconds.
