would be easy for apits, pair one is a pots loop (put it on voip). pair
two has power (get locally) and a 5v data stream to lite buttons and
detect button pushs.

dpits is another story, pair one is digitized (audio) and then stuffed
(at a high rate) in between the normal chatter on pair two. (think
color burst on a tv signal)

there are interfaces for a pc that can take the apits data and lite up a
screen pop that looks like a 70xx set. or used to be, was too expensive
back then. use that with a voip to xdp in parallel mode with a pc
running pcanywhere. with the bandwidth these days, use a camera over
your 74xx.

and now the kxt/kxtd is obsolete. remember the x-10 interface for the
tie/buscom/northcom/premier/etc system that plugged in like an extension
you could call and control all your x-10 modules? last version of voip
standard i saw won't handle 24 buttons ;-)

manufacturers want proprietary.
