The latency will kill you. If the satellite were directly overhead, that's over 20,000 miles. Packet out to satellite, packet to earth station, latency there, ack back, ack to satellite, satellite to you - if all were perfect that's 80,000 miles roughly. Speed of light 186,000 miles per second. That's at least 1/2 second. Usually it's over 3/4 second.
