Charles:

AFAIK
works OK:
wall power --> surge protector --> APC UPS --> splitter -> equipment

bad UPS karma (NOK)
APC UPS --> any surge protector -> equipment

You can find the the FAQ on the APC website if you wish.

Subject: [kxtd] UPS vs Surge Protector problem - TDA PRI glitch
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi all,

I know this has been mentioned before, can someone sumarize the problem that
can occur when certain AC surge protectors are used in conjunction with
UPS's with built in surge suppression?

When I found the possible bad UPS on my TDA with the PRI glitch, I replaced
it with a brand new APC 1100VA - but there was also a Panamax AC LP in line
as well. When I cut off AC to the UPS, it still supplied power, but the TDA
PRI often would lock up and needed to be rebooted, sometimes the whole TDA
would reboot. When I took out the Panamax, everything seemed to work fine.
I could unplug and re-plug the AC many times with no problems.

Charles
