In our kxtd1232 training class (5 years ago!) she had told us that the software (at that time) was more-than-likely designed for European versions of the pbx, not US.
I have heard stories of this software making changes to certain (other) areas every time you upload. My suggestion (take it what it's worth) is to always use the manufacture software or program from the phone itself. You may have to initialize the switch and start over, after all, it's not a large switch to reprogram...
