Hello, thanks for the input. the transformer is actually very close to the
 RE1, 15 feet or so.  Everyones help is greatly appreciated. I think we
are going to scrutinize the non-twisted wire installed by the gate
contractor, the majority of you feel that is the culprit and I agree. I
