Actually, the question to ask yourselves is "What will the end users be buying?"
And how can you position yourself to provide it? You don't want to be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, and smirking that the bow is underwater, but you are still dry. If there is a demand, someone will be filling it. Would you like to be included? Lots of interesting things are going on with Microsoft's Live Communications Server for instance....We may not need a Panasonic at all, just standardized VOIP hardware and user-installable, user-upgradeable, and user-programmable software. I suspect there will still be plenty of companies selling to end users. You could be quite right that they won't be selling Panasonic. End users may no longer be interested in Panasonic if it is easier/cheaper/better/ to use newer or more innovative equipment. End users will still need installation services, and most will need the programming and configuration. Don't wait until you can buy a VOIP system at BestBuy or WalMart/Sams . Eventually everyone will be buying the equipment "dirt cheap" on a commodity basis. The bucks will be made from your services, not the hardware. Plan ahead.
