The two short dial tones are usually heard when the phone is forwarded
(ie. To voice mail or another  phone)...

On our KX-TD system, the Intercom dialtone is two short tones followed
by a
continuous tone.  Is this just its way of telling you that you're on the
Intercom rather than a CO line?  I don't think I paid much attention to
it
before installing our voice processing system, and was wondering if it's
the VPS
signaling anything.
