Dan:

If I understand correctly, you are having trouble with transferring
to a VM (voice mail) (say 350) that is not in the allowed extension
ranges (default 100-199, 200-299). I suggest that you try adding an
extension range that contains the VM (say 300-399) and see if that
corrects the problem.

Panasonic KX-TD1232 Virtual extensions have the advantage over blind
mailboxes that one can assign a MWL (message waiting light) to an
unused key, perhaps on a DSS (direct station selector). This has been
reportedly used by people to provide VM for teachers at schools who
have no assigned phone. The teachers can wander by the DSS and see if
they have any messages without logging into the VM. If they forget
for a few days, someone can remind them to check their VM. Virtual
extensions have to be within the allowed extension ranges.

I have successfully created a virtual extension on KX-TD1232-4 with
MWL controlled by a KX-TVS200 VM. The catch is that in order to have
the MWL turn on, one must unset "All calls transfer to mailbox" which
results in a delay while the VM tries the extension. Also, if an
operator's extension turns the MWL ON, it must turn it OFF before the
VM can control it.

BTW: Could you provide a link to information about the VM software?
Does it run under some flavor of unix?
