Yes, we have these same series phones connected to PLC and HLC ports that work. In fact we have about 50 in service that work fine. When I plug in one of these bad phones (into a known good port of a working phone) they act like I mentioned before. We have a "graveyard" of two dozen of these bad phones that were in service and working fine, and then just quit working (not all at once, but one by one over the ten years we've had this system) So we have to buy new phones to replace them. I was just curious to see if anyone else had problems with these phones, and knew how to fix them cheaply so we don't have to pay the $120 to have them repaired.
