My timing was off 10 years or so. It apparently was the Castle Bravo
test in 1954 that the engineers lack of understanding of the reaction of
Lithium 7 that nearly took out some engineers. They were rescued by
helicopter as I recall . At least that's how I recall the event being told.
Jeff, with your background, could you possibly come up with a nuclear
reactor to power the KR? I'm not sure what the benefit would be as I'd
still have to come down to pee. 🙂
