Don't forget that, for all intents and purposes (even though it is a
"continent") Australia and New Zealand are islands and don't have a
'native' source of petroleum. Almost all raw materials for manufactured
goods are shipped in... kind of like Hawaii...
Different economic issues all around. Their form of governance is
irrelevant.
