Yes, this is the same principle as the trim tab on the rudder - but articulated by an RC servo. Used to deflect your control surface to enable the desired flight adjustments.
I have done a bit of research - you say "price is close to normal autopilot" - I have not seen an autopilot with 6 pack that comes close to this cost (or weight). Please share some of your finds so I can research them.
