I’ve been searching the archives again for weight related data. Mark was kind
enough years ago to state his 3100 was 245 lbs with carb, airbox, generator,
airbox, oil, starter, etc.

I’d like to nail down some other details if possible.

I’m uncertain if that 245 lbs includes:

-the prop hub and safety shaft.
-the baffling (Mark uses a twin fiberglass plenum)
-oil cooler and ducting.

I recall a common recommended battery is 9 lbs each. Still the case?

Weight of corvair engine mount?

There was an engine built a while back with the rare Salih Corvair Aluminum
over steel sleeve barrels, 3000cc with about every conceivable effort expended
to save weight(with a standard crank not the lighter billet crank), and got
down to a reported 205lbs. This was at a Corvair College and stated by WW
directly. (CC 14 or 16 I think). I can’t however be certain what was included
in this weight. But I’d guess it was without exhaust or baffling, maybe minus
prop hub?

Anyway I’m trying to get an understanding on all corvair engine related
components. I’d be aiming for an extensive effort to keep weight down, engine
and airframe.

Any help is welcome.

George
