This morning I received an email that appeared to be from
"i...@list.krnet.org" that said my mailbox is full, and to click on the
link below to update my storage limits.
It's pretty easy to see this is malware, given that KRnet has no
"mailboxes", it's just an email list! It's very easy to spoof who an
email is from....your email client will probably let you do it also.
Hovering the mouse over the links show the usual suspect, a link a mile
long of alpha-numeric mismash soup that leads to likely doom.
I only throw this out to the list to remind folks to be diligent when
checking email, and to look carefully before you click on anything.
It's vital to hover over the "button" or link, and see where that link
actually points to, and that it makes sense. Failure to pay attention
to detail can result in anything between increasing your spam and
malware, sucking up all your (and our) email addresses to some malware
cloud in the sky, to encrypting your hard drive for ransom. Frequent
backups and decent malware protection are essential.
Not trying to start a conversation on the subject, just stay diligent....
