Finish your project and go fly.  Except for an anomaly I doubt that the landing gear was at fault.  Too many retracts have flown and they have never been identified as a source that weakens the structure.  Until the exact fault /  cause of the crash is determined I'd advise it is business an usual.  I'd remind you that the pilot flying had previous time in an Extra that is good for what, 8 or 10 G's +/- but it is still no time to say he over-stressed the airplane.  Let's wait and see.
