My question is regarding finishing of the bottom boat. What has been done.
1. Just paint the wood
2. Micro fill the wood with fiber glass microfill then paint.
3. Glass the wood.

I suggest "deck cloth" to cover the wood.

I also used "deck cloth" to cover my wings and tail and applied it when
the KR glass was still wet. It eliminated a lot of fill. It not only
"fills" the wood but adds a small amount of strength. 15 years and 755
hours and a single crack line in the finish anywhere on the airplane
except a small crack on the tailwheel block that was wood to wood. The
finish on this stuff is as fine as nylon stockings for anyone old enough
to remember when women wore panty hose.
Reminds me of the joke: Guy asks his buddy, "how long you been wearing
panty hose?" reply, "ever since my wife found them in the glove box of
the car".
