Larry, glad to here this will not be a "Spanish Inquisition" type
inspection. Appreciate your response.
Thanks Robert. I have the same mag and will check the AD. I had to
change capacitors, points, and re-time mag to the crank and it fired up
on revolution 2 or 3, hard to say it was so fast. Thanks for the checklist.
Mark, Thanks for your input and links, the EAA and FAA links were
already earmarked in my file. I have been researching this topic for
some time, just don't remember everything i have read. I did not find
anything on instrument certs so hence the question to this board.
I contacted the local EAA chapter and Mr Condrey said cost for a
Designated Inspector will cost 6 to 8 hundred dollars. Called FAA Local
FSDO and they really don't wish to make these inspections a priority and
may take some time to get to me. He said he only has done one inspection
in the last year..

Either a quick glance and paperwork or a legitimate look over like
inspector should do. Depends on the inspector. Call the inspector
before the day of the inspection and see what they want . They won't
ask about the instruments if they even look at them. You'll be the
one testing them in flight, no certification.
