I had no test certs on any of my instruments, and I passed without a question, although I would certainly call the whole signoff affair "rushed" in my case. He did insist that I install a compass correction card under the compass after I had the plane at the airport and on a "compass rose", but there are other ways of doing that accurately.

I will say that one instrument you should be SURE works accurately is your airspeed indicator. See http://www.n56ml.com/airspeed_calibration/ for exactly how to do that, but my experience has been that when installed on a KR (at least under the wing as mine and most others are) it will read much lower than actual airspeed near the bottom (slow side) of the scale. That's why it's so important to stall the plane (or come very close to it) on the first flight, to ascertain exactly at what INDICATED speed the plane is going to fall out of the sky, and make sure you stay 10% or so above that speed while landing. Ground effect will add a bit more cushion while you're flaring.

You probably already got something like the EAA Experimental "Step by Step Certification Guide" before you get to this point, but if not, it's available at https://www.eaa.org/shop/product-detail?i=945&pi=1001&pr=2583379 . I got something the FAA used to send out for free, the "Amateur Built Aircraft Reference Manual"....a compilation of such documents, which are listed individually at https://www.faa.gov/aircraft/gen_av/ultralights/amateur_built/ for free download from the FAA. It has very specific details of the regulations.
