As I recall, I cut the taper on one side only. That kept the inside
surface of the spar caps facing each other parallel and the cuts of the
separating blocks at 90 degrees. It's been 25+ years since I cut mine
so wait for someone to confirm or say I'm in error. An easy way to cut
the tapper is to mount the spar cap on a second piece of lumber (1"X4"
for example) with the amount of material to be removed extended over the
edge. Run the piece through the saw using the edge of the 1"x4" as a
guide. A completed spar might be easier to handle in the saw. It would
just take a larger piece of wood for the jig.
