Hi John. Yes, when you export a FAA registered aircraft you do surrender the registration and airworthiness back to the FAA. And Yes, before re-registering with the FAA it you would get that foreign agency to release their "claim" of it. And Yes again, the "slight of hand" you referenced is due to the fact that the aircraft was never registered in New Zealand. As evidenced by http://www.bouyea.net/cur_proj/N133RM/ConfirmationOfNonRegistration.pdf found on the bottom of the Export-Import page here; http://www.bouyea.net/cur_proj/N133RM/WorkingWithTheFAA.html Good job knowing the rules! Maybe I should change my signature line to say "PHYSICALLY imported..." John Bouyea N133RM KR-2S - imported, fixed & flying www.bouyea.net/cur_proj/N133RM OR81/ Hillsboro, OR
-----Original Message----- From: KRnet [mailto:krnet-boun...@list.krnet.org] On Behalf Of John Gotschall via KRnet I am confused. When you export a plane aren't you supposed to surrender registration and Airworthiness cert? Also before re-registering supposed to deregister and release the foreign airworthiness? Is the slight of hand here due to never gaining foreign ops? _______________________________________________ Search the KRnet Archives at https://www.mail-archive.com/krnet@list.krnet.org/.
