Hi all,

I made also a canopylock on the front and back off the canopy...on each side.

maybe you can use some ideas from the link above.

That is exactly the way I would do it and the way my second KR2 is setup.

I think if I had front hinges on the canopy I'd want my lock down farthest
aft as possible. one in the middle and one on each side

Hi Guys.
Whatever you decide to use for a canopy latch please ensure it latches
positively and it is easily verifiable that it is latched!
If that forward hinging canopy unlatches in flight it will pop up to
around
20-25 deg, there is a LOT of suction on it. Not only is it noisy and
reduces forward visibility far more importantly it will blanket the
airflow
over the stab resulting in a rather violent drop of the nose. So violent
that it will eject everything that is loose in the cockpit including your
headset.
Unless you can get the canopy down at least most of the way (it will take
quite a bit of force) the plane is not really controllable in pitch, full
up elevator might not be enough to keep the nose up....
Don't ask how i know..... Never found my headset and had blue bruises on
my
shoulders from the harness, at least it kept me inside the plane unlike a
local case we had with a RV where the pilot was found miles away from the
crashed plane......

I am using this latch that I bought online. It is an electro-mechanical
device that sits just off of my shoulder against the aircraft structure
and
the canopy has a latch that is captured by the device and locks it. It
is
electrically released by pushing a button on my instrument panel, there
too
is a recessed emergency button on the outside of the aircraft marked
"Push
to Open Canopy". It is also powered by my emergency backup battery. I
like
this setup cause I can also lock the canopy with a key lock. It is
2.75"
tall by 2.25" wide and 1/2" thick. It comes with three mounting
threaded
bolt holes.

Michael,
Happy New Year and a Belated Merry Christmas! Don Reid's canopy latches
for his front-hinged canopy look like they do the job you need though
they aren't exactly what you describe. Pretty light, though.

Greetings All
I trust you all had an awesome and blessed Christmas and I wish
you
a
fantastic 2021.
I have almost finished the KR2 fibreglass seats which I chose so I
could
learn where mistakes are not dangerous or really costly and want to
tackle
securing the canopy with latches and locks etc next. My canopy opens
forward similar to Mark's photo : http://www.n56ml.com/04103050m.jpg
