FWIW, the cork fuel gauge gaskets in my KR were 23 years old when I sold it a couple of months ago and never had an issue. They were exposed to 100LL, 80/87, and lots of Mogas, including the same crappy mogas that delaminated the tanks in my SuperCub.

I can only guess there was something about the material used that caused
a problem. Lesson learned I guess is test gasket in fuel before use. I
had no problem with supplier gasket or material I used to make a gasket.
