Regarding this subject, I must disagree on both accounts. It is more up to the configuration of the plane. Steering with brakes cannot be as good as steering with rudder pedals. But some trikes do steer with rudder pedals. The KR however, trike steers with brake and the conventional steers with either or both.
As far as flying, I have been told on many occasions that you don't know the difference once the wheels leave the ground. I believe that. So, why would one fly better than the other? My current plane handles exactly like my KR did, because it is configured the same. The brakes are better mostly because these are hung from the top as many of the KRs have been build lately. I also think that conventional gear is more safe because of accidents like what happened to Jim. My Panther Building Documentation at PantherBuilder.org Daniel R.
