I came across a product the other day that others might be interested
in. It is a rather heavy clear plastic tape that can be used to cover
areas that get heavy wear, especially painted surfaces. It will cut
down the wear in those areas. I used it on the top longeron where I
enter and exit the KR. see photo

I found it at Menards store but it is probably available in many
