My transponder, KT76A, quit working the last couple of flights and I was thinking, crap, big bucks ahead. I went on e-bay and found a buyers market. Owners are dumping them for upgrades with ADS-B out. The prices are all over the map from $50 to $800 but I found one for $150 that looked brand new. The seller claims it work flawlessly when removed from his Piper for upgrade. I received it today and it does indeed look brand new. I'll plug it in tomorrow and see if it works. I purchased my current unit 30 some years ago with yellow tag. I hope I got a deal on this one. There was one I missed for $290 that included the tray and encoder. My encoder is only 5 or so years old so I don't think it is a problem. My "interrogator" light was no longer flashing but would come on in test so I know it had power. I'm hoping I got a cheap fix. I'll keep you posted.
