I dont think this is about tail aerodynamics, that's a bandaid. It's about
the Center of the weight being where it supposed to be. I had a nose-heavy
Avid and you could trim, but as soon as power was reduced, nose got heavy
again.  It would never trim for balance at all power levels. Very annoying.

When the baggage was loaded, it flew like a dream!  Put the CG where it
belongs, and you wont be chasing pitch trim all the time to no avail...  my
2 cents
