Yep, if the Corvair were only turning 2800 rpm it would only put out about 80 hp. More power strokes per unit time equals more total power. The fewer power strokes and the low compression and other lowly stressed parts of the Continental also enable the trouble-free TBO's and good reputations that those engines enjoy.
