Sounds like you had a good time. Talk to your airport manager and see
if they would install small windsocks near the ends of the runway for a
last second visual before crossing the numbers. Push them as a safety
issue. Checking the windsock on downwind is a good habit to practice.
No windsock, check flags on or near the airport or columns of smoke near
the airport. Flying a taildragger makes you a bit more conscious of
wind direction.
