Dr. Dean rounded the corners to make it "sexier"....more like a Lancair. What little reading I've done on that subject showed no speed improvement in rounding the corners. It's probably like Hoerner wing tips....where rounded ones are less efficient than sharp ones that yield a clean break, and less vortex shedding, although the flow direction is not the same between those two examples.
