KR's are indeed slippery and side slips to landing work to get you down but do nothing to slow you down in the flare if you carry too much speed on approach. It's tough to get the KR slow enough on approach without seeming to have a nose high mushy feel. The simple solution is to add drag, either speed brake or flaps, if you can get the flaps to extend far enough to create more drag than lift. Spoilers might be another solution but I don't think we have much experience to go on with spoilers on a KR. Drag is really your only answer. It makes your KR a totally different flying airplane.
