Just for confirmation:
1. a Belly brake will have exactly the same desired effect then.
2. No need for both split flaps & a belly brake.
If the above is the case, I'll not bother with the stub wings only split flaps, but only install a belly airbrake instead.

I have a 9 inch X 30 inch belly brake that deploys to near 90 degrees down on my 765 pound empty KR (normally 1100 pounds flying weight) and it is quite adequate. I never land without it deployed. I add a small amount of power to check the descent rate and it really stabilizes the approach. Mine is mounted to the floor immediately aft to the rear spar. Make sure you have adequate ground clearance.
