Sometimes you just don't have a choice when it comes to carrying liability insurance. One of the requirements for renting a hangar at our airport (tower controlled, with scheduled commercial flights) is to carry $1M of liability. Actually not a bad idea when you consider that I could easily cause that much damage to a bizjet or even a hangar with a couple of loaded Cirruses parked in it if my throttle jammed open or my hand-prop taildragger got away from me.
I pay $1/day for liability coverage on my Pietenpol Air Camper. Worth it.
