Mine is very effective, but I live in the South. I checked it out at 8600 Ft. where it was about 40 OAT and I had to cut back of full heat. I have Jet Hot coated exhaust and I am sure it would be even more effective with Stainless exhaust. My KR has no insulation other than the side upholstery and seats, which I guess provide a little.
I will be checking in much colder temps over the winter, so will post what I find. See N64KR at http://KRBuilder.org - Then click on the pics See you at the 2013 - KR Gathering in Mt. Vernon, Il MVN Bad Weather at Gathering time, is a killer or a real bummer. Daniel R. Heath - Lexington, SC -----Original Message----- how effective the exhaust heat exchanger is on the kr? For those who fly in the cold, how effective are those heat exchangers? Do you find them effective or do they need help? How about insulation?
